Westside Family Healthcare is a nonprofit organization that provides high quality primary medical care without regard to ability to pay. The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides direct patient services with an emphasis on prevention and education, in collaboration with staff physicians(s) and the clinical team of providers and allied health professionals and participating in the supervision of nursing students and staff. Physicians are available 24 hours per day on site or by phone for consultation with the FNPs.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines
Recommend or implement diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy
Perform routine or annual physical examinations and primary care procedures such as suturing, splinting, administering immunizations, taking cultures, and debriding wounds
Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized, including medication dosages, routes, and frequencies based on patient characteristics such as age and gender and counsel patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, or herbal remedies
Detect and respond to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, or older adults
Educate and engage patients in self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances
Maintain timely, complete and detailed records of patients’ personal health information in the electronic medical records system and keep such information confidential in accordance with legal requirements
Perform all services in compliance with the most current, accepted professional standards and the standards of the Joint Commission
Participate in WFH performance improvement activities and community education and outreach programs
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing
Current registered nurse licensure and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure and certification
Clinical training and experience in ambulatory care
