Job Description:

The Dr. S. Hughes Melton Family Medicine Residency Program at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia, is committed to providing advanced, innovative and specialized training in family medicine. This program gives residents the opportunity to work one-on-one with attending physicians, as well as the support and guidance to pursue the family medicine specialty that’s right for them. When your residency training is completed, you’ll be well prepared to serve any community and care for diverse populations as a licensed physician. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Job Responsibility:

  • Continuity of care experience will be longitudinal at the continuity of care site over the three years of training
  • Long-term care experience will be in PGY-2 and PGY-3 and will include at least monthly experiences in a geriatric care setting
  • Didactics will be held weekly and will include four hours of core conference lectures

  • Attend resident didactics held every Tuesday morning from 8 a.m.–noon
