We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to support attorneys handling sensitive domestic matters in Parsippany, New Jersey. This position plays an important role in guiding clients through complex legal situations while ensuring case materials, filings, and schedules are managed with accuracy and professionalism. The ideal candidate brings prior New Jersey family law experience, strong organizational judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with clients, courts, and counsel.
Job Responsibility:
Draft and assemble family law documents, correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, subpoenas, discovery materials, and other case-related filings for attorney review
Coordinate court filings and maintain organized digital and physical case records so documents can be retrieved quickly and accurately
Support trial and hearing preparation by arranging exhibits, scheduling client conferences, preparing motions, and helping coordinate witnesses
Serve as a key point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and responsiveness
Track deadlines, court dates, and meetings on attorney calendars and provide timely reminders to help matters stay on schedule
Assist with subpoena service and follow up on delivery to witnesses and other involved parties as needed
Provide attentive client support throughout active matters and continue to communicate with care during post-resolution follow-up
Contribute to efficient office operations by following established procedures, using legal technology effectively, and collaborating with the broader team
Meet annual billable hour expectations based on attorney assignment levels while maintaining high-quality work product
Requirements:
At least 2 years of paralegal experience in New Jersey family law, with the ability to work effectively in emotionally sensitive matters
Strong background in legal drafting, discovery coordination, trial preparation, and case file management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret legal documents and respond clearly to clients and colleagues
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, and case management software used in a legal environment
Solid analytical and problem-solving ability, with sound judgment when handling changing priorities and deadlines
High level of organization, dependability, and time management, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
Paralegal certificate preferred but not required
Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus, but not mandatory
