Job Description

The core of the role is to act as the 'voice of the child' in the family court. Your duties will include: Case Analysis & Safeguarding: Conducting early safeguarding checks and risk assessments to identify child protection issues. Direct Work with Children: Meeting with children (in homes, schools, or offices) to understand their wishes and feelings. Report Writing: Producing high-quality Section 7 reports and safeguarding letters with clear, evidence-based recommendations for the judge. Court Attendance: Providing expert testimony and advising the court during hearings. Mediation & Influence: Working with parents and carers to help them remain child-focused during disputes.

Job Responsibility

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' post-qualified experience in frontline children's social work (Child Protection, Court Teams, or R&A)
  • Active registration with Social Work England (SWE)
  • Expertise in Public and Private Law
  • Robust risk assessment skills
  • Ability to manage a high-throughput caseload independently
  • An enhanced DBS (within 12 months or on the update service)
  • A full driving license with access to a car for travel across Essex
