Job Description:

Family Contact Worker – Children & Families ? Manchester area | ? Children’s Services | ????? Family Contact Service. We’re working in partnership with a well-established Children & Families service in the Manchester area to recruit a Family Contact Worker (Grade 4) to support some of the city’s most vulnerable children and families. This is a rewarding frontline role, ideal for someone passionate about safeguarding, child development and family-focused practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Facilitate and supervise family contact sessions, including complex and supervised contact
  • Observe and assess interactions, contributing to ongoing child and family assessments
  • Provide practical support and guidance to children and parents during contact
  • Accurately record contact sessions, observations and outcomes
  • Monitor agreed action plans and escalate concerns to the Social Worker where appropriate
  • Work confidently within child protection procedures and court-related processes
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusive practice at all times

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and families, particularly in safeguarding contexts
  • A sound understanding of child development and child protection principles
  • Knowledge of the Assessment Framework and how contact contributes to wider assessments
  • Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills
  • Confidence managing emotionally complex situations professionally
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
