We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Caseworker to join the Homicide team in Thames Valley, working 30 hours a week. As a Family Caseworker you will be joining a passionate and committed team who provide a high quality and bespoke support to our service users. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support. You will be driven to make a difference every day with the ability to focus on the needs of vulnerable service users. Once in post you will benefit from the mandatory comprehensive training programme which will build on your existing skills and experience to prepare you for the role. Homicide Service training includes, criminal justice process; trauma informed approach to support; supporting traumatically bereaved families; personal and professional resilience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Managing your own complex caseload to the highest quality standards
  • Providing high quality and bespoke support to service users
  • Delivering exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support
  • Travel within specified regions (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire) and occasional travel outside these regions

Requirements:

  • Understanding of the impact of crime on victims
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering services and working directly within a statutory, voluntary or multi agency setting(s)
  • Ability to balance competing needs and priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A successful track record of building effective working relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle (essential requirement)
  • Resilience and adaptability
  • Strong listening skills
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy

  • Complete a needs assessment with the family within two weeks of initial contact
  • Complete initial case plan within three weeks of allocation for all medium and high needs families
  • Make any identified outbound referrals for the family within four weeks of allocation, including relevant follow ups at two and six weeks post referral
  • Ensure every family that you work with is offered the opportunity to participate in a pre and post client survey to measure outcomes
  • Undertake and participate in regular evaluations of the service and team planning days
  • Ensure all reportable data is entered into CDS Database in a timely manner and is ready on time for DEX reporting deadlines
  • Contact families as allocated within two business days
