Step into the role of Factory Assistant and get hands-on with powerful machinery, support critical plant operations, and play a key role in keeping everything moving. In the fast-paced world of the sugar industry, no two days are ever the same—this is where action meets opportunity. Initially located at Victoria Mill, Ingham offers a laid-back lifestyle, with stunning island beaches and exciting outdoor adventures right at your doorstep. Whether you're into fishing and boating, hiking, or just chilling by the beach, the Herbert Region has it all waiting for you. This is a permanent position in our sugar processing factory which requires shift work during the crushing season (June - December), including weekends and overtime and day work during the maintenance period (Jan - May).

Job Responsibility:

  • Master the start-up and shutdown operation of shredders which are driven by steam turbines
  • Hop on mobile equipment to tackle product spills, re-rail bins, and handle a variety of other tasks
  • Support the team by helping with the start-up and shutdown of the Milling Train
  • Clean and lubricate key equipment like spotters, carriers, pinions and juice heaters to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Work alongside skilled shift tradespeople, providing hands-on support when and where it's required
