The Facility Maintenance Technician role is responsible for monitoring, repairing, and maintaining various types of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as general facility maintenance.
Job Responsibility:
Operate and repair the facility’s HVAC systems to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the facility
Monitor operation of the HVAC systems, noting status, identifying potential problems and taking corrective action where appropriate
Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance and other standard operating procedures
Perform preventative maintenance repairs, alterations, and routine operations to the facility systems
Record all work performed, complete work orders, and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner
Respond to routine, precautionary, and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems
Maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies, prepare requisition forms for purchases, and pick up supplies and materials from vendors
General facility maintenance
Assist with snow removal for facilities as needed
Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or vocational training
3 years’ related experience
A combination of education and experience will be considered
Possess knowledge in methods, principles, and practices required for the operation, repair, and maintenance of the HVAC systems
Possess thorough understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services and technical requirements for events
Properly use all tools, equipment, and methodology for operations and maintenance of HVAC equipment
Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration and commercial kitchen equipment (gas, electrical, mechanical)
Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing
Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related materials
Adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management, and emergency procedures
Operate equipment such as light trucks, forklifts, scrubbing machines, snowplows, and skid steers
Operate fire alarm panel
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite and experience with automated building systems preferred
Follow written oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently, under pressure, and exercise proper judgement in handling incidents and routine matters
Maintain a positive and effective working relationship with clients, coworkers, patrons, and clients
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to work long and irregular hours that may include days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays
Nice to have:
30-hour OSHA certification preferred
