CSIRO's Marine National Facility (MNF) is seeking a motivated Facilities Support Officer to help ensure the operational readiness and safe delivery of scientific voyages aboard RV Investigator. Working within the Facilities team, you will support the administration of key ship management contract deliverables, liaising closely with internal teams and external service providers to coordinate maintenance, compliance and port activities. This role suits an organised, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment, with opportunities for occasional travel to port calls and potential sea time in a support capacity, contributing directly to marine research that delivers national benefit.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Ship Management Coordinator in overseeing the ship management contract, ensuring compliance with Australian and international maritime regulations
Provide timely and accurate support to the Ship Management Coordinator and assist with contract management tasks including reviewing and processing of invoices and raising of purchase orders, updating and maintaining contract management register and budget spreadsheets
Assist in managing contract deliverables, ensuring timely execution of tasks identified in the contract management plan
Support Facilities Team members and the vessel operator in planning vessel modifications and equipment installations for evolving scientific capabilities
Support the development of procedures to clarify roles, responsibilities, and operational expectations between MNF and the vessel operator
Perform other duties as directed
Requirements:
Relevant trade certificate/diploma/bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience in the co-ordination and provision of logistical, operational and technical requirements associated with maritime operations
Demonstrated experience providing administration and project support to management in a fast-paced and complex technical environment
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contract management practices and an understanding of procurement and financial procedures
Proven ability to positively and effectively liaise, negotiate and influence others to achieve organisational objectives, and foster and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to communicate openly, respectfully and with clarity on technical and specialist matters related to maritime operations, and to foster an environment that promotes collaboration, individual responsibility, and new ideas
Nice to have:
Experience and knowledge of the conduct of blue water marine research
Experience in health and safety in the maritime sector, including risk-based planning
