Job Description:

The Facilities Specialist will be responsible for maintaining all plant and equipment, investigating technical problems, and performing inspections and repairs for facilities and property management. The role also involves supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with IKEA policies, and troubleshooting equipment failures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical expertise in building and facilities management, experience in a retail environment, and knowledge of relevant laws.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain, service, and repair all plant and equipment in store, including the building fabric and surrounding grounds
  • Investigate and take corrective actions to overcome technical issues
  • Support the development and implementation of solutions for facilities and property management problems
  • Conduct scheduled and reactive inspections on property systems
  • Regularly check customer service and bathroom facilities and take corrective action
  • Ensure plant rooms and equipment stores are clean, tidy, dry, pest-free, and secured
  • Investigate equipment failures and perform limited repairs within in-house maintenance ability
  • Coordinate and supervise work performed by outside contractors in compliance with IKEA policies and safety procedures
  • Monitor FM contracts for compliance and cost efficiency
  • Maintain a list of third-party servicing and repair teams
  • Perform other duties as required for the role

Requirements:

  • Possess at least a Professional Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, PW4 or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years’ working experience in facilities management/ maintenance management/building operations maintenance preferably with specialization in huge retail environment
  • Hands on knowledge in handling all technical aspects of building and facilities (air-conditioning system, chiller, cooling tower, fire alarm system, boom gates and ticketing system among others)
  • Well versed in all laws governing the building management
  • Good team player and ability to work well with others
  • Able to anticipate issues before they arise and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Willing to work on weekends, shift hours, and Public holidays
