The Facilities Department is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to support Teradyne U.S. offices in the areas of building systems design and upgrade, operational continuity, project management, safety compliance, and efficiency optimization. The Facilities Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise in the above areas to ensure safe and efficient building operation. Key building systems under their oversight include Building Envelope, Structural, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical and Lighting, Building Automation.
Job Responsibility
Design, maintain, and optimize mechanical infrastructure including HVAC, process cooling water, compressed air, fluid systems, etc., and their maintenance to ensure 24/7 operation
Perform CAD modeling, design, and calculations for facility modifications
oversee installation and commissioning of new and or replacement equipment
Support internal engineering department growth by assessing requirements and working with government agencies, consultants and contractors to implement required building upgrades
Preparation of cost estimates, specifications, construction documents and or review, and project budgeting and scheduling
Interface with vendors, contractors, and consultants to manage construction projects and service agreements
Perform facility inspections, prepare condition assessment reports with recommendations, and oversee required repairs and upgrades to completion
Analyze equipment malfunctions, conduct root cause analyses, support facility off-hour operational needs as required including potential emergency response to maximize equipment uptime
Ensure all mechanical systems adhere to applicable building codes, fire codes (NFPA), and OSHA safety standards
Lead energy conservation efforts with implementation of sustainable and green building initiatives
Perform other facility related tasks as assigned
Attend training sessions and seminars as needed to develop professional knowledge
Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Advanced degree is desirable
Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is desirable
5+ years of practical experience in facilities mechanical engineering, plant operation and/or building construction
Proficiency in HVAC systems, Fluid systems, heat transfer and building automation systems
Advanced skills in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) is Required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
