Job Description

The town of Avon is seeking applicants for the Facilities Manager position. The position will manage operations of facilities consisting of all town buildings (five) and DPW water stations (nine). The Facilities Manager plans, organizes, directs and controls all aspects of facility operations including building maintenance, plumbing, heating and cooling, electric, grounds and fields, capital projects, construction, alarms system, controls, and preventative maintenance.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage operations of facilities consisting of all town buildings (five) and DPW water stations (nine)
  • Plan, organize, direct and control all aspects of facility operations including building maintenance, plumbing, heating and cooling, electric, grounds and fields, capital projects, construction, alarms system, controls, and preventative maintenance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • at least five years of responsible experience in the management of building operations/maintenance and construction
  • Experience in a municipal setting is also preferred
  • two years’ administrative and/supervisory experience
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months of employment, Certified Facilities Manager certification, or registration as a Professional Engineer or Construction Manager desirable
  • Other combinations to include training, experience, and licensure with demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
