Job Description:

With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England, is seeking to fill the Facilities Maintenance Manager position. Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, this position will be responsible for overseeing the repairs, safety, and maintenance of all organizational buildings and properties.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead preventive maintenance and inspections of buildings and systems
  • Manage New England site work orders through ticketing system and maintenance planning
  • Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and security systems meet operational standards
  • Assist with repairs, event setups, grounds upkeep, and snow/ice removal
  • Oversee emergency drills and safety documentation
  • Maintain inspection reports and certification files
  • Support development of safety procedures in partnership with Operations
  • Manage access control and site security systems
  • Coordinate external contractors for repairs and projects
  • Manage contracts for HVAC, landscaping, pest control, and other services
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations such as BSAS, DPH, and CARF
  • Supervise and develop maintenance and custodial staff, conducting performance reviews and support training initiatives
  • Support and monitor facilities budget planning and capital project recommendations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and Veteran status with equivalent leadership or technical training will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years in facility management, including a proven track record of supervising maintenance or custodial teams. Experience in a non-profit or multi-site organization preferred
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of core building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
  • Demonstrated experience in construction or general contracting preferred, with strong skills in project planning and organizational management
  • Active OSHA-10 Certification required to ensure site safety and compliance. OSHA-30 Certification preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the flexibility to travel frequently between regional facilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Physical to operate a company box truck as required
  • Capacity to perform heavy lifting (100+ lbs) and execute physically demanding tasks in various environments
  • Exceptional ability to manage competing priorities and oversee operations across multiple locations simultaneously

  • Experience in a non-profit or multi-site organization preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in construction or general contracting preferred
  • OSHA-30 Certification preferred
