Job Description:

The Facilities Maintainer - Fitter is a key member of a multi-skilled team responsible for maintaining facility infrastructure and systems at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG).

Job Responsibility:

  • Executing technical repairs and maintenance on assigned facility infrastructure equipment, including planning, organization, coordination, scheduling, training, mentoring, and resource management
  • Ensuring timely and efficient maintenance tasks, high levels of service, and maximizes productivity and equipment reliability
  • Day-to-day maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, ducting, pumps, blowers, power generation, fuel systems, water systems, and various ancillary equipment
  • Managing unscheduled breakdowns and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter and Turner)
  • Driver's License
  • Minimum 4 years post-trade experience is desirable
  • Experience in shutdown maintenance and repair highly regarded
  • Experience in maintaining fixed and mobile plant in mine sites highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of technical terminology and the ability to read and assess technical plans
  • Experience with a diverse range of plant and equipment is highly regarded
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, adhere to safety procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated customer focus
  • Committed to workplace diversity, equity, and EHS principles
  • Personnel must be medically fit to work and complete all physical tasks associated with the role
  • Employment at JDFPG requires obtaining and retaining an NV1 (Yellow Badge) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or SSBI (TS/SCI) US Department of Defense clearance, along with appropriate medical clearance

  • Experience with diesel power generation, general mechanical maintenance, and experience as a field service mechanical fitter/technician
  • White Card, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift License, Elevated Work Platform, First Aid
