Amentum at GE Aerospace is hiring a Lead Crane & Hoist Technician to join our 1st Shift industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN. This position serves as a subject matter expert for the maintenance, inspection, and repair of overhead cranes, gantry systems, CM hoists, jibs, and jib hoists. As a leader, you’ll guide a team of technicians while performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure equipment reliability in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Job Responsibility
Conduct advanced electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on cranes, hoists, and related systems
Document all work and updates in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Use diagnostic tools, schematics, and specifications to identify and resolve issues efficiently
Perform troubleshooting and repairs on facility-related equipment and systems as needed
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hazard analyses, and wearing appropriate PPE
Provide leadership to other technicians, including training, mentoring, and work assignment oversight
Identify opportunities for cost savings and improvements in maintenance methods for enhanced equipment performance
Lead or contribute to root cause analyses, solving complex issues, and implementing solutions to prevent future failures
Operate aerial lifts and other equipment as needed for maintenance tasks
Promote and adhere to the Amentum Safety Structure and enforce workplace safety regulations
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
5–8 years of experience maintaining cranes, hoists, gantry systems, or similar equipment in an industrial/manufacturing environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
Experience working at heights of up to 30 feet using aerial or scissor lifts
NFPA 70E training and knowledge of electrical safety practices
Strong leadership, time management skills, and the ability to mentor teammates
Pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Must hold a valid Driver’s License
U.S. Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization
Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s site
Availability to work alternative shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Nice to have
Associate's degree or technical certification in crane/hoist systems, industrial mechanical, HVAC, or a related field
Crane inspector certification or training
Experience with root cause analysis
Experience with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
Experience with CMMS platforms for tracking maintenance activities
