Job Description:

Facilities/IT Consultant (with an IT focus) – Full time onsite (Farnborough) – Outside IR35. Our defence client are looking for an experienced Facilities/IT Service Support Consultant to join their team on a 12-month contract. This role sits at the heart of service delivery acting as the link between the business and the Service Desk function. If you enjoy solving problems, working closely with users, and improving the overall service experience, this role is for you. This isn’t a traditional 1st-line role, it’s a hybrid position combining facilities management, ticket oversight, and hands-on IT support (Hardware over software). You’ll act as the bridge between the end-users and the support function to ensure tickets are handled efficiently, escalations are managed properly with business expectations being met.

Job Responsibility:

  • Acting as the first point of contact between users and the Service Desk
  • Hands-on low-level IT troubleshooting and support
  • Ticket management: prioritisation, triage, follow-up and escalation
  • Facilities management experience (think desk moves, hardware troubleshooting, operation improvements)
  • Supporting continual service improvement across the service desk
  • Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, tooling, processes, or user experience
  • Building strong working relationships with users and internal technical teams

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in IT support, service desk operations, or similar
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Someone proactive who can spot gaps, inefficiencies, or service opportunities
  • Ability to work onsite across in the Farnborough area
  • A calm and confident personality, comfortable interacting with users at all levels
