We are seeking a Facilities General Maintenance Technician for our client site in Groton, CT! We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented General Maintenance Technician to join our team at our clients pharmaceutical Research & Development facility. This role requires a hands-on individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced setting and is committed to upholding high standards in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Job Responsibility
Aesthetic Maintenance and Repairs: Perform tasks to enhance the overall appearance and functionality of the facility, such as: Painting and patching walls, doors, and other surfaces
Replacing damaged or missing ceiling tiles
Replacing damaged or missing floor tiles
Repairing leaky sinks, faucets, and minor plumbing issues
Replacing light bulbs, fixtures, and ensuring proper illumination
General Maintenance Activities: Handle a variety of on-the-spot repairs and improvements to maintain a polished facility environment, including minor carpentry, basic electrical and other tasks that contribute to the facility's visual appeal and operational smoothness
Safety and Quality Adherence: Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Report any hazards or escalated issues to supervisors promptly
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client's location
Must be willing to work overtime, various shifts, and weekends
This position may require a valid Driver's License
Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident
At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in general building maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, laboratory, or industrial environment
Familiarity with aesthetic repairs and proactive maintenance approaches is highly desirable
Proficiency with basic hand and power tools for painting, patching, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks
Basic knowledge of building systems (e.g., HVAC awareness, lighting, plumbing)
Experience using CMMS software for work order tracking
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive mindset
Excellent communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members
Ability to work independently during second shift with minimal supervision
Regularly lift to 50 lbs
Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
Walk extensively throughout the facility during shift
Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment
Nice to have
Technical degree preferred
Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses
Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
EAMS experience is a plus
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
