ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed, public facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Facilities Engineer at ASM GLOBAL-Oakland Arena and RingCentral Coliseum. The Facilities Engineer maintains and operates the building systems and associated equipment during both day-to-day operations and during events.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain union membership in good standing
Operate, monitor, and maintain the environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and other building systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facilities
Performs preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturers recommendations
Repair, rebuild or replace various items, such as electric motors, combustion engines, compressors, and pumps, etc
Operates auxiliary supply systems when necessary, including but not limited to generators, battery backup systems, automatic transfer switches, fire pumps, etc
Follows energy management program, standard operating procedures, and safety procedures for all machinery and equipment
Record and log all work performed, complete work orders and compile all required reports in a timely and efficient manner
Assist during Arena/Stadium conversions from concerts, ice shows, sporting events and other configurations as needed
Coordinates shutdown and start-ups of utilities when necessary
Works with outside vendors and contractors in maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment
Ensures compliance with Cal/OSHA, OSHA, NFPA and all other applicable laws and regulations
Operates equipment, such as industrial trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines or other power-driven equipment
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Five (5) years full-time experience at a facility in an Engineering related capacity
or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship, HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing vocational or higher training is preferred
Understand the methods, principles, and practices required for the operation and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, BMS and other building systems
Properly use all PPE needed to perform required duties
Be familiar with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility
Follow and adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures
Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce efficient and safe results
Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility
Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, schematics, and other related material
Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment
Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur
Ability to work both independently and in a group setting
Move and walk extensively around the facility
Stand for long hours during events
Kneel, stoop, reach, crawl and climb to high walkways
Lift and/or move 50-80 pounds up to 10 minutes at a time
Perform work through repetitive eye/hand coordination
Able to balance and have good manual dexterity
Work inside and outside of buildings
Experience exposure to adverse conditions such as varying weather, loud noises, bright or low light, fowl smells, etc
May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present which will require ability to use respirator and/or other PPE
Ability to work in confined spaces and extreme heights, which will require the ability to use proper PPE
Universal Refrigerant License, NFPA 70 E Low/High voltage, High-Rise Fire Safety Director, State Fire Pump Test certification, etc
Basic computer knowledge and the ability to operate Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office equipment
Must have the ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours
