Job Responsibility

Open and close the school site each day, ensuring all buildings are secure
Conduct regular security checks, including alarm systems, gates and external doors
Act as a key holder and respond to call-outs outside normal hours when needed
Monitor health and safety standards and report hazards or maintenance issues
Support emergency procedures (fire drills, evacuation routes, etc.)
Carry out minor repairs and maintenance, such as: Replacing light bulbs, fixing door handles, unblocking sinks, repainting small areas
Conduct routine checks of heating, lighting, plumbing and ventilation systems
Perform basic grounds maintenance (sweeping paths, clearing leaves, gritting in winter)
Keep maintenance logs up to date and report larger issues to management or contractors
Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of key areas such as entrances, corridors and outdoor spaces

Job Responsibility

Perform first-line maintenance tasks such as minor plumbing, electrical fixes (e.g., replacing bulbs), basic carpentry and general repairs
Inspect non-production areas (offices, canteens, break rooms, restrooms, locker rooms) to ensure they remain fit for use
As directed by the Facilities Manager carry out regular site and equipment inspections and maintain accurate, including asset registers, PPM schedules and compliance documentation for Facilities and Maintenance
Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities for building fabric and facilities equipment
Report machinery issues to the Maintenance team when beyond postholders scope
Support in the triaging of Maintenance and Facilities tickets raised on the Facilities system
Ensure facilities contractors and suppliers maintain high-quality service delivery and comply with agreed RAM’s
Conduct regular safety checks such as fire alarm tests, emergency lighting checks, and walk round-inspections
Ensure compliance with site safety standards
Support safe storage and use of cleaning materials and equipment

A full driving licence is essential, and you must be 25 or over due to insurance
You will need previous experience in a Caretaker / Handy Person role
Ideally you will have basic experience of plumbing and carpentry
You will be required to travel to two additional sites outside of Kent once a month
You will be required to have an Enhanced DBS processed for this role due to the nature of the company

Job Responsibility

Maintaining general appearance and tidiness of external and internal areas
Perform preventative maintenance tasks regularly
Carry out basic carpentry fixes such as fitting doors and fire door adjustments

Complete regular inspections of building and reporting any issues to the Facilities Manager
