Job Description:

The Fabrication Process Engineer II plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing processes at Hunter Douglas. This position is pivotal in driving operational excellence by developing and maintaining standard work procedures, optimizing processes, and ensuring productive capacity aligns with delivery schedules. The Fabrication Process Engineer II leads multidisciplinary teams, implements effective countermeasures, and supports flawless process launches to achieve organizational goals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Guide projects and tasks by identifying opportunities through engineering principles to support informed decision-making
  • Demonstrate independent judgment to adapt methods for non-routine assignments
  • Coordinate multiple small to medium-sized projects concurrently, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion
  • Perform safety process walks, implement countermeasures, and ensure zero accidents due to process issues
  • Define and document direct labor requirements and cycle times for each process monthly
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve process target efficiencies and maintain standard work procedures
  • Support Level 1 (LV1) process performance, documenting results such as headcount, cycle times, rates, and efficiencies
  • Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) to prevent poor quality costs
  • Conduct weekly process/Gemba walks to ensure compliance with standard work and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Validate and approve packaging designs and lead packaging trials in collaboration with the Packaging CoE
  • Lead Engineering Change Notice (ECN) implementation and productive capacity studies for current or new processes
  • Support best practice projects, LV2 events, and automation initiatives as needed
  • Communicate potential risks or major issues to the Engineering Site Lead
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in process engineering (5 years preferred)
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Project management experience is desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Results-oriented with high attention to detail
  • Must be comfortable working from the office for 5 days a week
  • Willingness to travel (20%+)
  • Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of fabric rolls weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to climb a stair ladder to a height of 10 feet occasionally

  • Experience with High Speed circuit design and test (eg. USB3.x, Ethernet, RF, DDRx, etc)

  • Execute bench verification and performance evaluation of components and circuits using laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc
  • Perform debug, failure analysis, and rework of electronics systems, circuits, and components
  • Using OrCAD Schematic tools, improve or modify embedded high-density, high-speed mixed-signal electronic circuits that integrate a wide array of electronics: application processors, microcontrollers, image sensors, high- and low-speed data interfaces, high-speed memory, switch-mode and linear power supplies, batteries, audio subsystems, RF transceivers, discrete digital and analog components, PCBs and Flexible PCBs, and a lot more
  • Team with PCB Design engineers to define, plan, implement, and inspect printed circuit board layout updates using Allegro or other layout tools
  • Test and evaluate basic RF performance of wireless circuitry (Cellular, Wifi, Bluetooth, GNSS, etc) in assigned in-market products
  • Map out test methods, perform system and component verification testing, and drive test plans for evaluating electronics design changes
  • Assess and document design change outcomes, test results, and related information and present information to design teams and management
