Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Senior Structure Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Analysis Engineer to join our Engineering department based in Wichita, Kansas. You will be part of a team that supports the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and is responsible for quality justifications from a fatigue and damage tolerance point of view in a timely manner. Duties include performing complex F&DT analysis for metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and static stress colleagues to provide repair solutions. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MROs).
Job Responsibility:
Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for the airlines and internal customers within given time scales
Autonomously perform complex F&DT analyses to assess that structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods
Assignments include structural justification documentation and subsequent certification documents for in-service fleet support
Mentor less experienced F&DT Engineers in all types of metallic structural repairs
Liaise with Design, Static Stress and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions for the airline customer
Mentor F&DT Engineers in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments
Ensure that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition
Ensure all tasks and activities are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales
Provide responses to complex repair queries by giving guidance as required within Airbus Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner
Together with other Repair Design and Stress Engineers, be a member of an integrated engineering team, ensuring its strategy, policy and direction is maintained
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis, mechanics of materials, and/or system design
Minimum 9 years total analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs
Experience in metallic and/or composite airframe structural repair
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions
Dependable, self-motivated and accessible
Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
Authorization to Work in the US is required
Nice to have:
MRO/Fleet Engineering experience
MRB experience
Proficiency with G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Proficiency with coding in Python
