Job Description:

Support Early Discovery: EYFS Teaching Assistant in Wigan! Are you a creative and enthusiastic Early Years specialist ready to help young learners in Wigan thrive? We are currently seeking dedicated Level 2 or Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistants to join our primary school network for a fresh start in January 2026. In a town known for its grit, friendliness, and strong community heart, Wigan's primary schools offer a fantastic environment for you to apply your knowledge of the EYFS framework. Whether you are assisting with creative play at the historic home of Wigan Pier or supporting early numeracy in a local reception class, your role will be vital in ensuring every child in the borough has the confidence to explore, learn, and grow.

Job Responsibility:

  • Preparation of resources and activities for the whole class, small group and 1:1 support
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to organise appropriate activities
  • Liaise with other professionals such as Teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff
  • Work closely with other LSAs and support staff
  • Work with classes, small groups and with children on a one to one basis
  • Monitor and track the development of the pupil in question and support personal development and confidence

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with young people
  • Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours
  • Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people
  • Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style
  • Have experience with SEN or knowledge of learning difficulties
  • TA qualified (Level 2, Level 3, or working towards)
