Job Description

EYFS Leader and Class Teacher – Full-time, fixed-term from July 2026 with initial contract from September to December 2026. The inspection report highlights a positive and well led school environment where pupils benefit from purposeful teaching and strong pastoral support. Leadership provides clear direction and works effectively with staff to maintain high expectations and a calm, inclusive culture. Early years provision is well organised, with learning experiences that support children’s development, confidence, and readiness for the next stage of their education. This EYFS Leader and Class Teacher role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high quality early years provision within a supportive and forward thinking school environment. The position combines strategic leadership of EYFS with class teaching responsibilities and plays a key role in supporting transition for the new Reception intake. The EYFS Leader and Class Teacher will work closely with colleagues and the leadership team to ensure consistency, creativity, and high standards across early years provision.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the school’s Early Years Foundation Stage provision with support from senior leaders and early years colleagues
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and developmentally appropriate EYFS lessons
  • Fulfil class teacher responsibilities, including assessment, planning, and reporting
  • Support the transition of new Reception pupils through transition week and induction activities
  • Provide effective class handover and support whole school transition arrangements
  • Monitor and support high quality teaching and learning across EYFS
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Ensure safeguarding, welfare, and early years statutory requirements are fully met
  • Contribute positively to wider school life and collaborative working

Requirements

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status
  • Proven experience as an EYFS lead and class teacher (essential)
  • Strong understanding of early years pedagogy and effective classroom practice
