Join our Global Home Storage Engineering team as the go-to expert in resin processing and equipment. In this hands-on role, you’ll lead cutting-edge projects across global Ziploc production sites, partnering with Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) teams. From designing advanced web handling systems to piloting new product innovations, you’ll shape the future of sustainable, high-performance packaging.

Job Responsibility:

  • Act as SME leading development and maintenance of global resin equipment technical standards
  • Own key Home Storage document template standards within SCJ’s Engineering Work Process for resin handling and web making systems
  • Create and maintain preferred vendor list for all major resin equipment components
  • Conduct technical audits of resin systems within SCJ Home Storage plants
  • Routinely lead technical teams through design phases of major projects, and support key maintenance/rebuilds as appropriate
  • Provide technical judgments that help guide business and / or operational decisions
  • Drives creative thinking and solutions in face of challenging business / project requirements
  • Work with plant engineering to navigate and solve critical technical problems (incl. complex safety system design), thereby enabling equipment design / efficiency improvement
  • Lead HAZOP & DFMEA analysis efforts for new systems and installations
  • Work with R&D and other technical partners on new scale-up process developments
  • Provide breakthrough innovation opportunities involving capacity improvement, cost savings, process optimization, productivity and new process control strategies
  • Research business and technical industry trends to understand broader landscape
  • Lead thinking in key areas of resin process and equipment development - transferring technology-based innovation across geographical boundaries to develop new capabilities and seek out best available technologies to maintain/advance our manufacturing processes
  • Key Engineering Lead for Home Storage Resin technical COP (community of practice) in partnership with R&D / Procurement
  • Role model behaviors by actively seeking out development areas of deep technical mastery, while broadly reapplying expertise to provide business building opportunities
  • Create/develop training packages to coach and develop site manufacturing process engineers (both internal and external) – fostering a learning culture to enable continued growth of our resource pool and maintaining BU expertise over the next decade
  • Equipment Specifications and Standards Development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Mechanical / Chemical / Plastics / Materials Engineering with 5+ years of experience leading all aspects of resin handling and processing design
  • experience in plant factory environment, with capital project leadership
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US

Nice to have:

  • Preferably has supported commercial R&D initiatives
  • Led or supported project design and delivery greater than $5 million budget
  • Working knowledge of industry both resin quality and web handling - while able to create and maintain specification standards
  • Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings
  • Experience in contractor and vendor management
  • Ability to independently develop and manage project scope, cost estimate and schedule.
  • Ability to contribute to MRA (Machine Risk Assessment) initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain resin processing and web handling equipment standards
  • Use statistical methods for design of experiments or process improvement (incl. Factorial Designed Experiments, Taguchi Methods)
  • Prioritize and plan work activities, sets clear goals and objectives.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and execute simultaneous projects and support activities.
  • Able to balance team and individual responsibilities to support overall objectives
  • Focal point for contracted design teams and assure as-built modifications are accurate and recorded upon completion.
  • Management of change approver
  • Knowledge and experience in TPM, Early Management methodology and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Autodesk Autocad and Inventor skills
  • SAP, Microsoft Project, MS Office
