Job Responsibility:

  • Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure maximum performance, availability, and security
  • Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies
  • Serve as SME (subject matter expert) for Microsoft SQL Server
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve performance issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, including database corruption and performance problems
  • Perform database tuning and optimization to improve performance and scalability
  • Develop and implement database security policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure database integration with other systems
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of database upgrades and migrations
  • Develop and maintain database documentation and standards
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (STEM preferred) and minimum of 8-12 years of relevant work experience as an Sr. MS SQL DBA
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies
  • preferable hands-on experience in working with Azure
  • Experience in handling customer escalations
  • Experience in writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring using PowerShell, Python scripting or similar technologies, ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Ansible, Git Actions etc.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Zabbix, Splunk, Solarwind)
