Experienced Social Worker role within the Children Looked After Team at Knowsley Borough Council, responsible for managing a caseload of children in the care of the local authority and contributing to service improvement following a recent Ofsted inspection.
Job Responsibility:
Manage a varied caseload of children who are in the care of the local authority, including those subject to care proceedings and full care orders
Build meaningful relationships with children and young people in care, ensuring their voices are central to all planning
Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop care plans that promote stability, permanence, and positive outcomes
Work in partnership with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to safeguard and promote welfare
Prepare high-quality reports for court and attend proceedings where required
Contribute to permanence planning, including long-term fostering, adoption, or reunification
Ensure statutory visits and reviews are completed in line with legislative requirements
Manage risk effectively and make evidence-based decisions to support children’s safety and wellbeing
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Experience working with children in care or within statutory children’s services
Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills
Confident in court work and care planning processes
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships
Committed to continuous professional development and improving outcomes for children
