Experience Mechanical Assembler

Custom Switchboard Mechanical Assembler (Experienced)\n\nReporting to the Production Manager - Custom Switchboards, this position will work as part of a crew to assemble, fit and mount mechanical components into steel switchboard structures. Candidates must have medium to advanced assembly skills and be able to read and follow engineering drawings and models. There is no wiring in this role.\n\n** Candidate must agree to work on day shift for a training period of up to 8 weeks, graduating to afternoon shift when able to work independently.\n\nSpecifically, the successful candidate in this position will:\n- Build large switchboard structures and subassemblies using pre-fabricated metal parts (steel and copper), following engineering schematics and electrical drawings.\n- Mount and brace horizontal and vertical bus, risers and bus supports inside structures in sequential order. ...\n- Use a variety of manufacturing equipment, high power torque tools, jigs/fixtures and fabrication machines such as punch presses and band saws.\n- Construct pallets following engineering design requirements.\n- Ensure strong assembly fundamentals are used at all times (ie., use of proper hardware, applying correct torque, using consistent fastening methods, checking tool calibration).\n- Identify design issues in mechanical and electrical schematics and raise them through the correct channels.\n- Visually inspect parts and material before and after assembly for conformance to drawings, quality standards and customer specifications, and make mechanical adjustments as needed.\n- Check parts picked/delivered to those required using the bill of materials, resolving issues with the Team Lead.\n- Repair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job.\n- Cross-train and backfill other employees/job functions when necessary.\n- Work to CSA and UL code.\n- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the internal kanban and MRB processes.\n- Perform other duties as required.
