Job Description

At AKQA (part of WPP) our Experience Design discipline sets the standard for innovation, creativity, and craft. As an Experience Design Lead (UI), you’ll lead the UI vision and craft for courageous digital experiences, setting the bar for quality, guiding teams through complexity, and ensuring what we ship is as beautiful as it is effective. This is a 6 month fixed term contract. In this role, you’ll be a hands-on leader who partners closely with UX designers, strategists, technologists, and delivery teams to turn insight into brand-led native mobile experiences. This role is for someone who can elevate others while delivering pixel-perfect UI, and who knows how to express play and emotion through motion, interaction, and visual language.

Requirements

  • Set the Visual North Star for a flagship native mobile app, pushing boundaries of brand expression
  • Translate brand strategy into refined UI, micro-interactions, states, and motion
  • Lead iOS (HIG) and Android (Material 3) design, balancing platform patterns and bespoke moments
  • Build scalable Figma design systems, embedding WCAG 2.2 accessibility by default
  • Mentor designers and elevate craft, inspiring teams to deliver world-class work
  • Lead agile squads and align stakeholders across design, technology, and delivery
  • Portfolio of high-fidelity UI showcasing typography, color, layout, and hierarchy
  • Creative ambition with a motion-first mindset

  • Strategic, articulate communicator who sells bold creative visions to teams and stakeholders
  • Proven experience in scalable design systems and leading design teams
