Job Description:

We’re working closely with a leading insurance company to help them identify an experienced Existing Business Underwriter to join their team. This is a remote position, allowing for flexible work hours. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting existing commercial accounts, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and providing superior customer service to brokers throughout Scotland.

Job Responsibility:

  • Evaluate and underwrite existing commercial risks within company guidelines
  • Review and analyse policy renewals and endorsements
  • Manage underwriting workflow and ensure timely processing of accounts
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve underwriting issues and provide excellent customer service
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and underwriting guidelines
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as needed
  • Nurture and maintain broker relationships
  • Visit when required

Requirements:

  • Progression towards CII qualifications would be preferred but not essential
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, with a focus on existing business accounts
  • Proficiency in underwriting operations and commercial lines underwriting
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, demonstrating strong time management and organisational skills

Progression towards CII qualifications

  • Large case management for renewals over £5,000 and above
  • Act as a referral point for Underwriting Assistants within the Team
  • Answer phone calls to broker in a professional and friendly manner
  • Operate in accordance with the Underwriting License given
  • Make use of the Underwriting guide in addition to senior colleagues for a collaborative approach to underwriting
  • Take initiative, within the context of the role, to improve work processes and promote overall corporate goals
  • Ensure Group trading entities deliver customer outcomes in a compliant manner in accordance with the principals of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
