Job Description:

The Executive Director, Real Estate Development and Counsel provides strategic leadership and legal expertise across a broad range of real estate and related matters for Baptist Health and its affiliates. This role is responsible for overseeing property acquisition, development, transactions, and asset management, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Serving as a key advisor, the Executive Director partners with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to support organizational growth initiatives, mitigate risk, and drive effective real estate strategies. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Assets/Real Estate.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide legal counsel on a wide range of real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, and asset management
  • Lead and support complex real estate transactions, including negotiation and execution of agreements
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents such as lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements (PSAs), mortgages, closing documents, and government-related contracts
  • Manage and advise on real estate-related litigation and risk mitigation strategies
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across departments to support strategic initiatives and operational needs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal leaders, external partners, and regulatory entities
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and organizational standards

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of real estate law experience required
  • 10+ years of negotiation experience required
  • Juris Doctor (JD) required
  • Active license to practice law required
