Job Description:

BlackRock’s PFS business in Japan is seeking a seasoned Director-level professional to lead a team of product specialists and drive business growth across private and liquid credit products within the global PFS offering. This role requires a strategic, commercial mindset and the ability to act as a key partner to stakeholders, facilitating strong connectivity between clients, prospects, investment teams, and distribution channels.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with client businesses and key stakeholders to promote BlackRock’s global credit products in Japan, driving significant growth in revenues from Japanese clients
  • Respond promptly to client requests and queries, supporting complex and in-depth due diligence processes
  • Lead the design of tailored credit products that meet the requirements of large Japanese institutional clients, balancing commercial opportunities with costs and complexity
  • Define and position BlackRock’s competitive advantage in credit by understanding industry dynamics and growth drivers
  • Collaborate with client businesses to raise the profile of BlackRock’s credit capabilities in Japan
  • Represent the product and portfolio manager at product pitches, review meetings, market updates, and ad hoc portfolio-related meetings
  • Liaise and collaborate with credit portfolio management and strategy teams based in New York and London
  • Partner with colleagues across APAC to support marketing and client service efforts for PFS throughout the region

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding and background in the credit asset class, preferably from a product specialist or investment role
  • Deep expertise in private credit, with the ability to communicate detailed investment content and market dynamics to clients, prospects, and distribution teams
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate sophisticated concepts and ideas in English and Japanese
  • Knowledge of institutions, business customs, and regulatory frameworks across Japan
  • Proven track record of understanding the needs of strategic Japanese clients
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to deliver pertinent facts concisely
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form meaningful working partnerships
  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Experience in product development and structuring, focusing on commingled and single-investor private fund structures, including legal and tax considerations, investor, and operational support models

  • Results-driven, with high attention to detail
