Position Summary: The Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) is responsible for fully managing assigned portfolios, the respective P&L’s and a team of highly motivated colleagues within the general merchandise & consumables business unit. The DMM has full responsibility for setting the strategic direction for their portfolios, attaining budgeted sales, budgeted margin, market share growth, and developing high performing teams. Overall, the DMM is responsible for achieving the Merchandising objectives as they relate to the CVS Strategic plan.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic Planning: Develops growth strategies for portfolios and oversee the development of BU/Category strategies, rooted in a deep understanding of the customer and competitive trends.
Fosters innovation by bringing ideas to market quickly while balancing growth potential against financial risk
Sets and ensures execution of the Business Unit & total Front Store strategic vision in collaboration with other Business Unit leadership for evolving our business to meet our Health and Wellness objectives
Delivers Results: Delivers sales and margin goals in assigned portfolios by attaining market share & customer growth.
Manages all profit, loss, customer and balance sheet targets to include but not limited to: sales, contribution margin, NPS/OSAT, inventory turns, GMROI and DOS.
Accountable for management and financial results of the following businesses: General Merchandise. Business areas are subject to changes based on needs of the business.
Stakeholder Influence and Collaboration: Creates strong foundational relationships with key stakeholders
Influences with, and without, authority leveraging those key relationships as a foundation
Regularly collaborates with peers, and cross-functional partners, to ensure the optimal solutions are being determined for the brand and the success of the strategic vision for CVS customers, colleagues and business
Demonstrates a growth mindset when new ideas are proposed by the team or cross-functional partners
Drives the collective CVS Health strategic priorities via general merchandise businesses
Demonstrates poise and resilience in broader meetings where ideas are met with strong objections
Culture of Talent Development: Leadership: Providing guidance, direction, and support to teams and departments to ensure smooth operations and optimal performance.
Responsible for leadership development, succession planning, and driving engagement programs for the teams you oversee. Ensure development and mentorship of next generation of leadership talent.

Requirements:
15+ years of progressive leadership experience across the following areas: Category Management in a large, complex enterprise (Fortune 5 experience strongly preferred)
Multi‑unit leadership in competitive industries such as retail, healthcare, or pharmaceuticals
Influencing and leading across all levels, with and without formal authority
Building, developing, and coaching high‑performing teams and future leaders
Managing complex issues decisively while balancing organizational dynamics
Leading effectively under pressure and adapting to changing business conditions
Translating complex situations into clear, actionable solutions
Communicating with excellence, including executive‑level verbal, written, and presentation skills
Collaborating across diverse functions, stakeholders, and leadership styles
Leading large organizations and managing multi‑million‑dollar business units to deliver results
Presenting strategic narratives to C‑Suite executives
Applying strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making skills
Travel- Ability, and willingness, to travel regularly, 15% of time, based on needs of the business.
Bachelor’s degree required
Nice to have:
Experience working for a Fortune 20 company or working in retail field, or in our retail pharmacy company.
Deep understanding of Merchandising at CVS, or in other like external business models
Consulting experience preferred.
Experience working as a strong merchant, managing a P&L strongly preferred.
Must be a self-starter and require little direction
Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
Ability to think about the impact of decisions on the broader enterprise.
Consistent record of exceptional customer service skills in increasing larger scopes of responsibility.
Demonstrated track record of high performance.
Advanced degree preferred.
Master’s degree preferred
