Job Responsibility:
Manage, develop and mentor culinary staff including hiring, firing and disciplining
Ensure event staff awareness of workplace expectations and provide ongoing training and mentoring
Achieve budgeted food cost percentages through control measures including portion control and inventory management
Control labor costs through scheduling, cross-training and monitoring breaks
Ensure purchasing and food preparation meet quality and consistency standards
Supervise line set-up, prep and breakdown activities
Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repair
Manage delivery and set-up of catered services
Arrange kitchen staff training and orientation
Maintain positive employee relations and compliance
Ensure health, sanitation and safety regulatory compliance
Oversee kitchen record keeping, inventory and invoicing
Organize employee schedules and enforce uniform policy
Promote teamwork and effective communication
Oversee production of staff meals
Perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years kitchen management experience
Demonstrated ability to meet food and labor cost projections
Professional presentation required
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Maintain Food Handler's card and alcohol permit if applicable
Knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
Ability to obtain sanitation certification
Experience with food preparation methods
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to train and develop staff
Problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented and multitasking ability
Flexible schedule for events including nights and weekends
Minimum of 3-5 years of kitchen management experience in a full service restaurant or events venue
Demonstrated track record of meeting projected costs
Professional appearance and presentation
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Maintain current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
Working knowledge of hospitality employee scheduling
