The EXO Specialist at Client will lead the architecture, governance, modernization, and lifecycle management of the Global Exchange Online (EXO) and Hybrid messaging environment. The role ensures seamless collaboration between cloud and on-prem systems, supports large-scale mailbox migrations, enforces security and compliance standards, and partners with global teams across Germany, India, and NAFTA regions. The organization operates a mixed landscape of Exchange Online, Exchange on-premises, hybrid mail flows, multiple Microsoft 365 tenants, and complex security/compliance controls—requiring advanced architectural ownership.
Job Responsibility:
Design and maintain the global EXO and Hybrid architecture, aligning with Client security, compliance, and M365 tenant strategies
Define scalable architectures for mailbox serves, transport services, client access, and application integrations
Govern authentication modernization (OAuth2, Graph API) in response to Microsoft deprecations such as EWS retirement
Establish EXO governance models, role definitions, and admin access control frameworks in alignment with security & compliance teams
Oversee hybrid configuration (Exchange On-Prem + EXO), ensuring stability of provisioning flows, directory synchronization, and mail routing
Support and coordinate large mailbox migrations, including pool-ID migrations and workload transitions mandated by MBAG timelines
Lead issue resolution involving EXO team, Microsoft support, and internal stakeholders across ITT/IT, EXO-Migration teams, and business application owners
Implement and optimize EXO security baselines, modern authentication, forwarding restrictions, and audit controls as mandated by corporate guidelines
Work with Contract Management to evaluate new licensing and security enhancements such as Defender for Office features and E3/E5 add-ons
Ensure messaging compliance requirements are met across geographies (EU, India), coordinating with MBAG legal, identity, and compliance teams
Lead upgrades of legacy app integrations from deprecated EWS to Microsoft Graph before Microsoft deadlines
Provide architectural guidance to application owners transitioning integrations into the modern authentication ecosystem
Act as technical escalation point for EXO L2/L3 teams and external partners
Ensure adherence to Client change management, ITSM processes, and global operations frameworks
Requirements:
7-10+ years in Exchange/EXO architecture, including hybrid deployments in large enterprises
Deep expertise with Exchange Online, Exchange Server (2016/2019), AAD Connect, Identity, OAuth, Graph API transitions
Experience managing cloud migrations in multi-tenant environments
Strong understanding of email security, EOP, Defender for Office, and regulatory compliance in global organizations
Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and threat prevention
