Starting just after the Easter break, the role requires an individual to act as the formal invigilator, overseeing the conduct of students within the examination hall. The post-holder is responsible for creating a silent, stress-free environment. It is a position that demands high levels of professional discretion, as you will be the primary point of authority during these high-stakes assessments.
Job Responsibility:
Enforcing Silence: Maintaining a completely quiet and focused atmosphere from the moment students enter
Instruction Delivery: Reading formal examination scripts to candidates with clarity and authority
Paper Accountability: Securely distributing, collecting, and counting every examination script
Malpractice Prevention: Actively patrolling the room to ensure no unauthorised materials are used
Access Arrangements: Supporting students with extra time or specific needs, acting as a prompt where required
Seating Coordination: Directing students to their assigned desks according to the formal seating plan
Attendance Logging: Accurately completing the formal register for every morning and afternoon session
Query Management: Responding to student requests for stationery or clarification on procedural matters
Time Tracking: Displaying and monitoring the official start and end times for all candidates to see
Emergency Action: Managing the safe, silent evacuation of the room in the event of a fire or incident
Requirements:
Previous invigilation experience (ideally) or training can be provided
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
Fluent spoken English to ensure all verbal instructions are easily understood
