This is a rewarding and varied role supporting young people aged 16–25 with EHCPs, including those with complex learning difficulties, disabilities and social, emotional and mental health needs. You’ll provide 1:1 and small group support both on and off-site, helping learners develop independence, achieve their goals and prepare for their next steps.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and group support to learners working towards literacy, numeracy and vocational outcomes
Support students to achieve their EHCP outcomes and RARPA targets
Deliver tailored support to help develop independence, confidence and life skills
Support travel training and independent journeys where appropriate
Work closely with curriculum teams, support services and external partners
Support learners with transitions, progression and future aspirations
Maintain accurate records, reports and risk assessments
Build positive, trusting relationships to support wellbeing and engagement
Requirements:
Experience supporting young people with additional needs, SEND or complex behaviours
A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Good organisation skills and attention to detail
Level 2 English, Maths and ICT (or willingness to achieve)
A relevant qualification in youth work, mentoring or support (or equivalent experience)
