Golders Green United Synagogue (GGS) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Events & Community Manager to help shape the next chapter of our vibrant, inclusive Modern Orthodox Jewish community. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about community life, programme development and impactful event management. As one of the largest and most diverse communities within the United Synagogue family, GGS offers a warm, welcoming and forward‑thinking environment. Working closely with our Rabbinic teams, lay leaders and volunteer groups, you will play a central role in strengthening engagement, building community connections, and supporting the smooth running of our operations.
Job Responsibility:
Lead, plan and deliver an annual calendar of social, educational and communal events to engage current members and attract new ones
Coordinate volunteers, empowering them to support community activities and projects
Oversee office operations, including staff management, facilities coordination, and supervision of external contractors
Project manage major community initiatives including ShabbatUK, Shabbatonim, festival programming, guest speakers, and family‑friendly activities
Manage event budgets, fundraising efforts and cost control
Drive community marketing, overseeing publicity across digital channels, newsletters, website updates and social media platforms
Promote GGS to prospective members through strong communication, branding and engagement strategies
Support the Rabbinic and Education teams in delivering high‑quality programmes
Ensure community spaces are prepared and maintained for events, including security and cleaning arrangements
Maintain compliance with United Synagogue policies, safeguarding expectations, and health & safety requirements
Requirements:
Strong event and project management experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead teams and manage contractors
Skilled in marketing, social media and digital platforms
Tech‑savvy, organised and proactive
Knowledge of Jewish customs and Modern Orthodox community life
Must be able to work evenings/weekends as and when required for events
