The Event Sales Manager is a revenue-driving role focused on growing event business and creating memorable guest experiences. This is a highly proactive sales position. The Event Sales Manager will build business by canvassing the local community, developing relationships with individuals, organizations, and businesses, and actively promoting the venue as a go-to destination for celebrations, corporate gatherings, and other catered events. Success in this role comes from a strong ability to network, generate leads, and turn opportunities into booked events. As part of a collaborative team, this role is responsible for sourcing new business, following up on leads, and guiding clients through the event planning process from initial inquiry through execution. It’s a blend of sales strategy, relationship building, and hands-on coordination. The ideal candidate brings experience in the food service or hospitality industry, a proven track record of driving revenue, and strong knowledge of the Cambridge and Greater Boston market.

maintaining and developing current client relationships

working with event planners on property to manage the event's entire experience
making outside calls to generate new catering business
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management or related discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience
1-3 years in hospitality industry, with experience in catering or banquets preferred
Experience in a major convention, hotel, or large social market
Ability to work independently across two large facilities
Strong presentation skills
Ability to effectively communicate with diverse clients and staff
Knowledge of menu planning and food presentation
Skilled in banquet and event service operations
Ability to balance multiple tasks while being creative and having a proactive approach to sales
Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent time management
Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure, while handling multiple projects in a fast paced environment
Excellent written/interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated leadership qualities
Comfortable making decisions and negotiating
Able to take direction but also work independently
Focus on guest service
Strong digital literacy in Excel, Outlook, Word and other Microsoft Office Suite or related programs as well as other databases and spreadsheet software
Available to work event-based hours, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays
Achieve and maintain Washington State Food Handlers, ServSafe Manager, and Alcohol Service Certifications as required
