The Power Distribution Technician is responsible for safe and effective power distribution setup and strikes for ENCORE and outside production company events and trade shows. This position works closely with the ENCORE project managers, operations managers,sales staff, venue Banquet Managers, and 3rd party providers of event and trade show services. The PD Technician assists with Audio Visual duties as assigned and when power distribution activities have been completed. Based on market, this position reports to a venue/area operations leader with support/dotted line to the area/regional Power Distribution team OR reports directly to a power distribution leader.
Job Responsibility
Review and plan Power Distribution execution based on event power orders, exhibitor order forms, floor plans and exhibitor booth diagrams/blueprints
Create and execute show load-in/ load-out plans for both Production events (Encore or 3rd Party) and exhibits/tradeshows
Collaborate with project manager and operations teams as a technical expert for power distribution
Safe, timely and accurate setup, operation, and breakdown of required power distribution for general sessions, breakouts, computer labs, meal functions, entertainment events, exhibitors, decorators, and productions
Build custom cables and assist in the fabrication of electrical components, as needed and as allowed based on local regulations and individual qualifications
Troubleshoot and solve power issues when they occur, working closely with Encore operations team and venue engineering
Assist in the cross training of AV Technicians and as a lead (small team of 2-3 technicians) in the area of power distribution
Provide excellent service and strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers
Maintain a positive relationship with all clients through effective communication
Meet with guests on site to ensure that their needs are met and the electrical setup is working properly
Monitor events and checks in on customers throughout the day and help to drive best practices with peers
Understands and fosters the hotel/client relationship and assists with coordination of outside electricians when required
Collaborate with sales team to upsell, by identifying opportunities to recommend additional Power distribution services and driving sales best practices through technical consultation
Gains understanding of company processes, follows procedures, and completes systems entry and paperwork accurately
Maintains a working knowledge of 110v-220v, single and three phase equipment, different connectors, power phases, amperages, and voltages
Understands the differences and conversion between European and North American power standards
Understands Power Generators, Transformers, and the meters and tools of the trade
Understands electrical hazards and related safe working practices/procedures as well as ability to drive compliance with anyone involved form sales to execution
Requirements
High School Diploma is required
2+ years of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred
2+ years of audio-visual experience is preferred
1+ years of working with Power Distribution Equipment
Preferred certification or ability to attain certification (ETCP PPDT, BC. LPEC, Ont. 269E, or equivalent)
A valid driver's license is required for team members in positions that may operate Company Vehicle
