Birmingham Children’s Trust deliver a high -quality Education intervention service using a trauma informed approach. This approach ensures children have improved academic and vocational achievements and reduces their risk of school exclusion. Engagement in Education also has a positive impact on desistance from offending. The Education intervention service, working in partnership with the Youth Justice System (YJS) Case Manager and external agencies, provides support and guidance to increase engagement and sustain educational provision to statutory school aged children who are under the supervision of the Youth Offending Service.
Job Responsibility:
Offer intensive and bespoke support to ensure issues or barriers a child may face to engaging in their education journey can be overcome
Establish a positive supportive relationship with the child
Develop a range of techniques and strategies to enable re-engagement with their Education
Work in partnership with the Youth Justice System (YJS) Case Manager and external agencies
Requirements:
Experience of working in a setting relevant to youth justice or children and families
Hold in depth knowledge of the UK education system and have previous experience of supporting children into/within an education setting
Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
Demonstrate an understanding and the ability to respond to safeguarding concerns
Must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK
