We are recruiting for an Estimator to join a specialist consultancy operating within the UK water and utilities sector. The business supports major infrastructure programmes and capital delivery frameworks for leading water companies and contractors across the country. As an Estimator, you will support the Estimating & Cost Intelligence team in the delivery of key frameworks and infrastructure projects within the water sector. The role will involve close collaboration with both clients and contractors, providing accurate cost planning and estimating support across projects at various stages of development. You will contribute to the development of robust cost models, benchmarking exercises, and cost assurance activities, while supporting the successful delivery of multiple projects simultaneously.
Job Responsibility
Prepare estimates at various project stages using cost models, CESMM, and bottom-up estimating techniques
Develop CAPEX, OPEX, and NPV assessments to support optioneering and project comparison exercises
Undertake project benchmarking and develop cost envelopes for early-stage projects
Carry out cost assurance reviews of project estimates and contractor submissions
Collect and analyse historical project cost data in a standardised format
Support the development and maintenance of cost models for future estimating activities
Attend client meetings and site visits where required
Act as a confident client-facing representative during meetings and project discussions
Manage estimating activities across multiple concurrent projects
Work with a range of estimating systems and tools to support project delivery
Requirements
Degree qualified in Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
Experience in estimating within infrastructure, utilities, or construction projects
Strong understanding of cost estimating methodologies, including CESMM or similar
Ability to produce high-level and detailed bottom-up estimates
Excellent analytical, numerical, and organisational skills
Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management abilities
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visits as required
Nice to have
Experience within the water or utilities sector
Familiarity with cost intelligence, benchmarking, and cost assurance processes
Knowledge of NEC contracts and infrastructure project delivery environments
Working towards or holding a relevant professional membership (RICS, ICES, CIOB, etc.)
