We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Estimator to join our team on the SPT Scottish Power Transmission Framework, supporting the successful delivery of the DWNO scheme and a range of high‑profile projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their expertise and take on increasing levels of responsibility within a major long‑term infrastructure programme. As Estimator, you will take principal responsibility for managing and preparing tenders from first principles, ensuring robust, accurate and competitive submissions. You will coordinate and challenge inputs from the wider construction team — including procurement, engineering and commercial — while supporting bid management, cost assurance, and quality submission requirements. This role also contributes directly to the Scottish Power CNM3 project, valued at up to £850M, offering significant scope for professional growth and long‑term impact.
Job Responsibility
Support the bid team to meet tender deadlines and develop effective tender strategies
Review tender documentation, assess scope, complexity, and risks, and provide clear feedback
Source competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations and analyse market trends
Conduct site inspections to validate tender requirements and identify risks or omissions
Prepare quantities and tender submission documents in line with Morgan Sindall procedures
Compile benchmark information, estimate prices, and incorporate customer feedback into tender amendments
Consult with customers throughout the tender period and support contract negotiations
Coordinate contract exchange and deliver comprehensive tender handovers to the project team
Provide guidance, mentoring and task delegation to direct reports
identify training needs
Support recruitment, performance management and promote positive workplace relationships
Maintain strong customer relationships and identify new business opportunities
Contribute to business development initiatives and stay informed on industry trends
Build and maintain external business contacts and regularly review internal procedures for efficiency and currency
Requirements
Degree educated (preferred)
Strong understanding of first‑principles estimating
Solid working knowledge of project management principles
Awareness of current health and safety requirements and industry changes
