The Quantity Surveyor / Estimator will support commercial and project delivery teams by providing accurate cost planning, tendering, contract administration, and financial control across construction projects. The role requires strong commercial awareness, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare detailed cost estimates, take-offs, and pricing from drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Assess subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy, value, and compliance
Develop cost plans and budgets to support tender submissions
Identify value engineering opportunities and commercially viable alternatives
Manage project costs from initial tender through to final account
Prepare and submit interim valuations, applications for payment, and variations
Monitor project expenditure, forecast costs, and maintain accurate commercial records
Support procurement activities, including subcontractor selection and contract negotiations
Review contract terms, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and commercial obligations
Support risk identification and mitigation across projects
Produce regular commercial reports, cost reviews, and cash-flow forecasts
Liaise with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to maintain effective communication and resolve commercial issues
Ensure all work is delivered in line with budgets, timescales, and quality standards
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or dual-role QS/Estimator within the construction sector
Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and commercial processes
Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation
Proficiency with cost management and estimating software/tools
Excellent numerical, analytical, and reporting skills
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline
Candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance
