Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Estimator III with at least 7 to 10 years of directly applicable estimating experience in a marine or offshore environment. The candidate will analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and labor estimates for products, projects or services.

Job Responsibility

  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists
  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, scheduling vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness
  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Prepares accurate estimates and reports and maintains a source of data file
  • Gathers cost and technical quotations from vendors, suppliers and manufacturers
  • Ensures supplier’s scope of supply coincides with contract or project requirements
  • Maintains job estimate history files
  • Updates history files as required for use in preparing future project estimates
  • Prepares letters, memos, faxes and/or e-mails to suppliers to seek requests for information
  • Works overtime as required to complete estimates in a timely fashion
  • Prepares material and labor cost estimates from information provided or historical experience
  • Contacts and gathers technical and cost information from vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and other sources

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of directly applicable estimating experience in a marine or offshore environment
  • Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
  • Accurately able to read and interpret provided drawings, specifications or other proposal or technical documents
  • Contacts and gathers technical and cost information from vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and other sources
  • Computer literate, with good spreadsheet and word processing skills
  • Can work under schedule pressure and meet deadlines
