Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join a leading construction firm specializing in large-scale ICI developments. In this role, you will be the backbone of the preconstruction phase, transforming blueprints into comprehensive financial blueprints. You will manage the entire estimating lifecycle, from performing intricate quantity take-offs to analyzing subcontractor bids and identifying project risks. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance competitive pricing with operational reality, ensuring every bid is both winnable and profitable. You will act as a key collaborator between leadership and project teams to ensure seamless project handoffs and long-term financial success.

Job Responsibility

  • Cost Analysis: Execute precise quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials across diverse project phases
  • Bid Management: Oversee the full tender process, including coordinating addenda, managing RFIs, and ensuring final submissions are comprehensive and timely
  • Vendor Relations: Solicit and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, performing deep-dive scope comparisons to ensure total coverage
  • Risk Mitigation: Scrutinize drawings and specifications to identify potential roadblocks, incorporating necessary contingencies and value engineering solutions
  • Team Synergy: Partner with Preconstruction and Project Management teams to align estimates with field execution strategies and participate in post-project reviews

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural Technology
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of estimating experience specifically within a general contracting firm, focusing on commercial or industrial sectors
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and industry-standard take-off/estimating software
  • Exceptional analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and strong negotiation capabilities

Nice to have

Familiarity with CCDC contracts and platforms like Fieldwire is preferred

What we offer

  • Comprehensive Health & Wealth: extended health, dental, vision, disability insurance, and a competitive RRSP matching program
  • Work-Life & Wellness: on-site gym, wellness programs, an employee assistance plan, and generous paid time off
  • Perks & Culture: company vehicle or allowance, mileage reimbursement, casual dress code, and frequent team events with provided catering
  • Professional Growth: tuition reimbursement and a collaborative environment
