Job Description

Our client in Dorval in the construction industry is currently looking for a an assistant estimator. This candidate has the overall responsibility for assisting in various estimation and administrative tasks for each of the construction quotations assigned to the team. This person may have other clerical tasks that will be associated with the role.

Job Responsibility

  • 80% of this position is making phone calls to invite sub-contractor partners to quote and to follow up on receiving their prices
  • You should be bilingual English and French
  • Comfortable making many calls for a large part of the day - every day
  • Research new sub-contractors for pre-qualification process
  • Request all conformity documentation to add new partners for bidders list
  • Open project files, create sub-list, establish deadlines, review various criteria

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience in the construction industry
  • Basic construction, facilities, or comparable – administrative experience
  • Ability to manage priorities and highly organized
  • Bilingual (English and French) Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel and Word
  • Works well independently as well as a part of a team
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • A candidate with drive

  • Source material pricing from manufacturers and suppliers
  • request and track quotes to ensure timely bid submission
  • Organize and enter take-off data and pricing into estimating software and/or Excel spreadsheets
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical bid files, including drawings, specs, quotes, and award documents
  • Support the preparation of final bid proposals and bid summaries for submission
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as assigned
  • Follow up with general contractors and owners on submitted bids
  • Coordinate with the Project Management and Operations teams during the handoff of awarded projects
