We're working with a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality machined components and assemblies into demanding industries. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to bring in an Estimating Manager to lead their commercial estimating and project function. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical engineering knowledge with commercial awareness — taking projects from enquiry through to delivery while influencing cost, process and profitability.

Job Responsibility

  • Evaluate customer enquiries for machined components and assemblies
  • Lead the estimating process, producing accurate costings and detailed quotations
  • Interpret engineering drawings and digital data to define optimum manufacturing methods
  • Manage projects from quotation through to completion
  • Carry out detailed contract reviews, ensuring a 'right first time' approach
  • Liaise with customers on technical queries and requirements
  • Work closely with production and supply chain to monitor and improve contract profitability
  • Source and negotiate materials and subcontract processes
  • Drive continuous improvement across cost, quality and delivery
  • Support and guide best practice across the commercial and engineering teams

Requirements

  • Strong background in mechanical engineering (apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in estimating, costing or project engineering within a machining or precision engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently
  • Strong commercial awareness with a focus on cost and margin
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with customers and internal stakeholders
