Lothian is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Estates & Property Manager to lead the strategic management, development and governance of our diverse estate portfolio. This key role is responsible for ensuring that all property, infrastructure and facilities assets are safe, compliant, sustainable and aligned with the company’s operational requirements and long-term strategic objectives. The successful candidate will lead estate planning, facilities management and infrastructure development activities across a multi-site portfolio, supporting major capital investment programmes including depot electrification and wider estate transformation initiatives. The role will also provide robust oversight of contractor performance and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. Combining operational delivery with strategic leadership, this position will play a vital role in ensuring Lothian’s estate continues to support current operations while enabling future growth, innovation and sustainability ambitions.
Job Responsibility
Manage estates, buildings, and assets to ensure safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes
Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations (H&S, fire, asbestos, water, electrical)
Manage contractors and oversee projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
Maintain asset records, inspections, and certification
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and estate performance
Manage budgets and provide regular reports to stakeholders
Requirements
Proven experience in estates, property, or facilities management
Strong knowledge of building management and compliance requirements
Experience managing contractors and delivering projects
Strong financial awareness and budget management skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel
Experience in transport, logistics, or industrial environments
Relevant degree or professional qualification in: Estates Management, Facilities Management, Engineering or Construction-related discipline
Professional membership (e.g. IWFM, RICS) desirable.
