We are looking for an Estates and Trusts Paralegal to support a busy legal team in Baltimore, Maryland. This position focuses on probate and trust administration, document preparation, and ongoing coordination with clients and beneficiaries. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment when handling sensitive financial records, and the ability to manage multiple matters with accuracy and professionalism. This is a tremendous opportunity for a junior paralegal who is looking for mentorship and growth. You will be trained by an experienced paralegal and work closely with another paralegal who has been in the role for over three years.
Job Responsibility
Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, family members, fiduciaries, and beneficiaries throughout estate and trust matters
Draft and assemble filings for probate and estate administration in both formal and informal court proceedings
Gather, review, and organize financial and legal records such as tax documents, trust instruments, deeds, stock transfer paperwork, and account statements
Prepare documentation needed to secure federal and state estate tax lien releases and support the transfer of real property, including executor-related deed packages
Assist with post-death planning matters by preparing disclaimers and related estate planning documents under attorney direction
Compile supporting materials for audits involving estate tax or inheritance tax returns and help ensure files are complete and well organized
Prepare fiduciary accountings, settlement documents, and related filings for submission and review
Support attorneys with the drafting and revision of wills and other estate planning documents, along with additional assignments as needed
Requirements
At least 2 years of paralegal experience, preferably in estates, trusts, probate, or estate administration
Working knowledge of probate procedures and documentation associated with trust and estate matters
Experience organizing complex financial records and legal documents with a high level of accuracy
Familiarity with estate and inheritance tax documentation and related supporting materials
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, beneficiaries, and legal professionals
Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain detailed files, and handle confidential information with discretion
Proficiency in preparing legal documents and coordinating filings in a fast-paced law firm environment
