Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Estate Tax Accountant to join our client's team in Belvidere, New Jersey. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to work onsite five days a week while contributing to a variety of tax preparation and accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of public accounting experience and a strong understanding of individual and state tax processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Must be familiar with estates, estate accounting, and NJ inheritance tax return preparation
  • Handle inheritance tax forms and manage related documentation
  • Apply knowledge of New Jersey state tax procedures to ensure proper filing and compliance
  • Utilize accounting software, such as Excel and Drake Tax Software, to manage and analyze financial data
  • Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information for tax preparation
  • Conduct audits and reviews to identify discrepancies and maintain compliance
  • Assist with entity formation and provide guidance on related tax implications
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for clients
  • Ensure all work adheres to current tax laws and regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with estate tax
  • Knowledge of New Jersey state tax processes and inheritance tax forms
  • Strong skills in using accounting software such as Excel
  • Familiarity with Drake Tax Software is a plus
  • Ability to work onsite in Belvidere, New Jersey

  • Conduct estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax planning for high-net-worth clients, including wealth transfer strategies
  • Provide consulting on complex trust, estate, and individual tax matters, including year-end and multi-year projections (cash flow, estimated tax, and distribution planning)
  • Provide estate and trust administration support, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws by situs
  • Supervise and mentor staff accountants, reviewing work and guiding client engagements
  • Research complex estate, gift, and trust tax issues and clearly document findings and recommendations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with families, beneficiaries, and their advisors
